Parker Wright is the kind of athlete who makes coaches take note before they even check the stat sheet. On the basketball court, the Mountain Brook senior has been a starter in every game this season. Last year he put up 264 points while shooting 42% from three โ 67 makes total. That is not a streaky shooter. That is a reliable one. There is a big difference. On the football field, he earned the Tip of the Spear Award โ given to the player who missed zero summer or fall practices or workouts. Not one. In a culture where consistency gets preached but rarely lived, Parker lived it. Then there is the classroom. A 4.0 GPA. Member of the National Honor Society, National Society of High School Scholars, National Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society, and Beta Club. He also received a National Youth Leadership Forum invitation. His favorite subject? Math. 'Numbers and equations just come naturally to me,' he said. 'I like solving problems.' Same mindset, different arena. Parker is in conversations with coaches about playing basketball at a high-academic Division III program โ the kind of student-athlete DIII programs dream about finding. Someone who actually cares about both halves of that hyphen. When he is not in the gym or the classroom, he has country music or 80s and 90s rock in his ears. Old soul. All the way.
