SANTA FE, NM — June 16, 2025 — New Mexico Solar Cooperative announced today it has raised $12 million in new funding to accelerate the expansion of community solar projects across New Mexico, bringing affordable clean energy to rural and underserved communities throughout the state. The funding round was led by Southwest Climate Ventures, with participation from the New Mexico Green Energy Fund and several impact-focused institutional investors. The cooperative plans to deploy capital toward the development of six new solar installations over the next 18 months, adding an estimated 45 megawatts of clean energy capacity to the regional grid. "This investment represents a pivotal moment for energy equity in New Mexico," said Chief Executive Officer Maria Delgado. "We've always believed that the benefits of solar power shouldn't be limited to homeowners who can afford rooftop installations. This funding lets us bring those savings directly to renters, small businesses and farming communities." New Mexico currently ranks among the top ten states for solar potential but lags in per-capita solar adoption. The cooperative's member-owned model allows subscribers to access solar credits on their utility bills without requiring property ownership or upfront equipment costs. Current membership stands at approximately 4,200 households across five counties. The new capital will also fund workforce development initiatives, with the cooperative committing to create at least 80 local clean-energy jobs by 2027 in partnership with Santa Fe Community College. --- About New Mexico Solar Cooperative: Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Santa Fe, New Mexico Solar Cooperative is a member-owned clean energy organization dedicated to making solar power accessible and affordable for all New Mexico residents and businesses.
